- Assistant Director of Performance
Description
About the Role:
Quantum Movement is seeking a driven and knowledgeable Assistant Director of Performance to join our growing team. This position is ideal for a highly qualified and experienced coach who not only thrives in athlete development but also finds fulfillment in mentoring staff, refining systems, and shaping organizational culture.
At Quantum, our mission is to redefine sports performance by integrating cutting-edge science with real-world application. Based in Vienna, Virginia, we specialize in athlete development using data-informed training and a multidisciplinary team to guide each athlete’s growth. The Assistant Director of Performance plays a central role in carrying that mission forward, ensuring every training session, every staff meeting, and every athlete experience reflects our commitment to Integrity, Collaboration, Discipline, and Growth.
This is a dual-capacity role that combines a minimum of 20 hours per week of hands-on performance training with 15 hours per week dedicated to leadership and operational responsibilities. You’ll spend part of your time on the turf and in the gym, coaching athletes through evidence-based programs, and part of your time behind the scenes, developing coaches, refining our systems, and supporting our leadership team.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver science-based training sessions to athletes of all levels applying Quantum’s training philosophy.
- Design individualized and small-group training programs grounded in data, biomechanics, and long-term athlete development principles.
- Track athlete progress and evaluate key performance indicators.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary staff to optimize performance and recovery strategies for athletes.
- Assist the Director of Performance in daily operational oversight to ensure cohesive and consistent team function.
- Support onboarding, mentoring, and ongoing development of new trainers to uphold Quantum’s methodology, culture, and standards.
- Manage training-floor operations to ensure all sessions run safely, efficiently, and in alignment with Quantum’s standards.
- Contribute to recruiting and hiring efforts, including evaluating candidates and supporting staff growth.
- Participate in internal initiatives to strengthen educational resources, programming systems, and operational efficiency.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, clients, and performance staff while modeling leadership and professionalism.
- Balance coaching responsibilities with administrative and leadership duties to support both daily operations and long-term growth.
Who You Are:
You are a coach who leads with purpose and integrity. You thrive in high-performance environments and find equal satisfaction in developing people and systems as you do in developing athletes. You bring deep technical knowledge of strength and conditioning, sport science, and long-term athletic development, paired with a strong understanding of leadership dynamics and team culture.
You are someone who sees coaching as both a science and an art - someone who brings discipline to your craft, collaborates with others to solve complex problems, and embraces growth as a lifelong pursuit. You are at your best when surrounded by other passionate professionals who push one another to improve every day.
Compensation and Benefits:
This position offers competitive pay composed of two core components: training hours and leadership duties. Training hours account for a minimum of 1,000 hours per year (~ 20 per week). Leadership and administrative responsibilities account for approximately 15 hours per week and are compensated through a fixed stipend paid bi-weekly. Benefits include paid time off, health insurance, CEU reimbursement, full access to our facility resources and gym, and career advancement opportunities within our expanding organization.
