Position Overview
We are seeking a Head Strength & Conditioning Coach to lead, grow, and represent our athletic performance division. This position is ideal for a driven, relationship-oriented coach who wants to take ownership of building a strength and conditioning program that serves middle school, high school, and club athletes in Central Oregon.
The ideal candidate is confident programming for athletes of all levels, comfortable communicating with high school and club coaches, and eager to be a visible face of Gym X within the community.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement year-round strength and conditioning programs for middle school and high school athletes, tailored for both in-season and off-season needs.
- Lead group training sessions and team workouts focused on performance, injury prevention, and long-term athletic development.
- Collaborate and communicate with local high school and club coaches to recruit athletes and align training programs with their athletes’ sport demands.
- Play an active role in Gym X’s marketing and outreach efforts to grow the performance program.
- Serve as a leader and ambassador for Gym X, representing our brand and training philosophy in the community.
Schedule & Hours
- Target of 20 hours per week during the first year (afternoons, after-school, and some Saturdays). This is a brand new position and we will be building up to 20 hours per week.
- Opportunity for additional hours through personal training or small group sessions.
- Scheduled breaks include:
- Thanksgiving week
- 2 weeks over Christmas/New Year’s
- Last week of school
- 3–4 weeks of personal vacation available
Growth Opportunity
Our goal is to expand this position into a full-time, salaried role by the start of Year 2, with a minimum 10% salary increase (and potentially more, depending on program growth and performance). The position will start as an hourly wage position.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field (preferred)
- Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or equivalent certification
- Experience programming and coaching athletes ages 12–18
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Passion for developing athletes and building community
