About This Role:

The Kansas Institute for Early Childhood Education and Research (KIECER) and Kansas Child Care Training Opportunities (KCCTO) teams, within the College of Health & Human Sciences, are looking to hire Trainer/Technical Assistance Content Specialists who will work on a statewide professional development and technical assistance project in the area of childcare and education, focusing on supporting individuals and programs serving infant and toddlers. This position will join a cadre of staff and have responsibility for project activities related to the development of content and delivery of training. This position will serve as a trainer/technical assistance provider, responsible for the analysis of needs assessment data and identification of technical assistance needs; development and provision of training and technical assistance activities; development of strategies, content, and delivery of highly specialized and focused technical assistance; and development and delivery of information in modularized and online learner managed systems. Additional responsibilities include the development of, contributions to, and the dissemination of materials specific to evidence-based practices in childcare and early education.

Expertise of individuals will be balanced across factors and knowledge in specialized content areas. Examples include: disabilities, teaming and collaboration, infant mental health, social-emotional development, and trauma-informed care.

This position has the potential for a hybrid or remote work agreement. Geographic location may be considered, as the project will have staff in the Kansas City, Topeka, and Wichita areas with others strategically located.

In-state travel will be required with possible out-of-state travel related to attendance at educational events for personal skill and professional development. Staff may be required to attend meetings to represent the project.

The Kansas Institute for Early Childhood Education and Research (KIECER) is a partnership between the Division for Student Life and the College of Health and Human Sciences. The Institute is housed in the Department of Applied Human Sciences at Kansas State University. The mission of KIECER is to elevate and influence practice, an equitable workforce, and family systems through collaborative efforts to advance the science of early childhood education and development. The work of the Institute falls within three main areas: workforce development, research and outreach, and engagement.

The KCCTO-KIECER ITSN project is a collaboration of the Kansas Child Care Training Opportunities, Inc and the Kansas Institute for Early Childhood Education and Research. This project supports programmatic evaluation of the technical assistance and training of childcare providers across the state of Kansas with specific focus on two areas: 1) early childhood mental health consultation and 2) supporting children with disabilities in childcare environments.

The College of Health and Human Sciences is home to six academic departments (Applied Human Sciences; Food, Nutrition, Dietetics & Health; Hospitality Management; Interior Design & Fashion Studies; Personal Financial Planning; and Kinesiology), the Center on Aging, and the Physician Assistant program. In addition, the college received approval from the Kansas Board of Regents to serve as a satellite location for the WSU nursing program. What You'll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in specialized area with a focus in early childhood (e.g., early intervention/special education, infant mental health-social/emotional)
• One to three years of relevant experience, such as:
  • Development of written materials (e.g., technical assistance plans, individual professional development plans)
  • Coaching other adults/professionals (e.g., mentor coaching, peer-to-peer coaching)
  • Managing multiple tasks/projects
  • Experience with infants/toddlers and/or young children

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in specialized area with a focus in early childhood (e.g., early intervention/special education, infant mental health-social/emotional)
• Documented successful teaching/in-service training and technical assistance experience with adult learners
• Two years' experience working with infants/toddlers
• Documented working experience with electronic and online databases
• Documented experience with public speaking and/or online instruction (conference presentations, training workshops, teaching at an in-service or preservice level)
• Documented experience working with specialized populations of infants/toddlers and their families or other specialized populations (e.g., disabilities, homeless, at-risk)

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

$50,000 - $65,000
