
Description
This position is under the supervision of the Parks and Recreation Director. It is a non-exempt position under FLSA. This position supervises and assists in directing, coordinating and overseeing the public athletic programs, afterschool program, and other activities of a municipal recreation program for persons of all ages in the community.
Essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Developing, planning and organizing recreation activities for youth and adults, including athletic leagues, tournaments and camps and clinics.
- Schedules use of facilities for programs, practices, games, classes, and rentals.
- Recruits and hires part-time seasonal staff, officials and supervisors
- Recruits volunteers, instructors
- Assists in budget preparation.
- Coordinates with school district with afterschool program planning.
- Instructs and leads classes and activities as needed
- Attends and monitors activities as required
- Coordinates maintenance and upkeep of equipment and facilities
- Serves as liaison with participant groups and organizations
Requirements
Must work independently, possess good decision making and work well with members from the public.
Must have a working knowledge of computers, office procedures, athletic equipment and maintenance equipment.
Must have great communication skills.
Must have 2-3 years of similar or related experience.
Must have a high school diploma or GED, and a bachelor's degree in recreation administration or management, physical education or a related field.
