The Sun Prairie Area School District is seeking an Assistant Superintendent of Teaching, Learning and Equity beginning on July 1, 2026, with a base salary expected to be $180,000.
Sun Prairie is a vibrant and thriving community located in northeastern Dane County, just east of the City of Madison. Approximately 50,000 people live within the nearly 80 square miles that make up SPASD boundaries. The City of Sun Prairie is well situated regionally, with excellent access to major transportation routes and facilities. Sun Prairie benefits from its proximity to the City of Madison and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which provide many amenities, events, and attractions for both residents of and visitors to the Sun Prairie area. The Sun Prairie Area School District serves more than 8,500 students in 4K-12th grade. The district includes 15 schools: nine elementary schools, three middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, and an alternative learning high school. The district also offers a 4K program at 10 partner child care/preschool sites around the community, and a virtual school. The district has more than 1,300 employees and a budget of approximately $220 million.

The Assistant Superintendent of Teaching, Learning and Equity reports to the Superintendent and works alongside the Assistant Superintendent of Operations. This role serves as the district’s Chief Academic Officer and is responsible for improving practices in instruction, curriculum, and assessment, empowering schools to become more efficient, effective and equitable. As leader of the Teaching, Learning and Equity Team, the Assistant Superintendent oversees the planning, implementation, and monitoring of all educational programs and services. Most importantly, the Assistant Superintendent will take a lead role in advancing the mission and vision of the school district to ensure successful learning for every student.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position supervises the following positions: Director of Elementary TLE; Director of Secondary TLE; Directors of Student Services; Director of Digital Media, Innovation, and Strategy; and Manager of Professional Learning, and Mentors. This position also participates in the supervision of the Director of Student Policy and School Operations and the Director of Systemic Equity and Inclusion. Other supervisory tasks will be performed as assigned in accordance with the district's policies and applicable laws.

Requirements
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
A strong educational background is required, including a master’s degree or other advanced degree in Educational Leadership; a doctorate is preferred. Candidates must have at least 10 years of leadership experience, including successful service as a school-based administrator.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES:
Must possess, maintain, or be eligible for a current Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction administrative license. A Superintendent license is preferred.
