Sea Colony Recreational is seeking a Group Fitness Instructor! Qualified candidates will thrive in a hospitality environment and be highly focused on providing superior service.
General Purpose:
Develops and assists members with aerobic and strength training programs. Assists in the safe instruction of exercise equipment.
Essential Duties:
Guide members through initial and progressive training in the areas of flexibility, aerobic conditioning and strength training
Instruct fitness and aerobic classes each week
Teach proper stretching, strengthening and aerobic exercise
Ensure proper, up-to-date and safe procedures are used in the teaching of all classes
Participate in continuing education seminars and workshops
Inspect exercise equipment and areas for cleanliness and safety; perform light custodial duties such as wiping down equipment and monitoring cleanliness in pool area, spa, fitness center, and locker rooms
Choreograph exercise sequences and aerobic routines for aerobic dance and exercise classes; classes may be either indoor controlled exercise settings or indoor/outdoor aquatic settings
Monitor classes in progress, providing constructive assistance
Enforce all rules and regulations in a polite and professional manner
Represent the community association's fitness center at meetings, seminars, and events with the fitness director, or in the absence of the fitness director
Assist the fitness director with special events, tournaments, recognition programs, and any outdoor sports related activities
Incorporate safe work practices in job performance
Regular and reliable attendance
Perform other duties as required
Education/Experience:
Associate's degree (AA) in Physical Education or related field; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands:
Frequently uses hands; reaches with hands and arms; talks, hears, stands and walks, climbs or balances; stoops and kneels. Occasionally sits, crouches, or crawls; tastes or smells. Occasionally lifts up to 45 pounds.
Environment/Noise:
Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is moderate.
Certificates/Licenses:
National Certificate for Aerobic Instruction. AED, CPR, and First Aid.
Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:
Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associate may be required to communicate with English-speaking customers or co-workers; manuals for the equipment the associate may use are in English)
Experience and exposure to a wide variety of exercise equipment, instructional techniques, injury prevention, fitness/wellness counseling, and developing/interpreting personalized fitness/wellness regimens
