Description

This position is an Assistant Tenure-Track Professor level. The minimum education requirement for appointment to this position is a terminal degree in sport and exercise psychology or related areas such as sociology of sport and psychosocial aspects of sport. Candidates nearing completion of the terminal degree may be considered; however, all requirements for conferral of the degree must be met no later than the start date of the position. Candidates must have the ability to successfully teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in the sport and exercise social sciences (i.e., sport psychology, sport sociology, exercise psychology, etc.). They must demonstrate a line of professional and scholarly inquiry as evidence by submission of peer-reviewed publications and presentations commensurate with academic experience. Candidates must also provide evidence of their commitment to, or experience in, promoting and fostering an inclusive learning environment that is supportive of diverse learners.

Requirements

• Delivering high-quality, student-centered instruction in undergraduate and graduate courses in identified areas of needs of the department (e.g., Exercise Behavior & Adherence, Sociology of Sport, Foundations of Sport & Exercise Psychology)
• Developing an independent line of scholarship leading to peer-reviewed publications and professional presentations
• Mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, including serving on master’s culminating project committees
• Contributing to the goals of the department and university through service on committees and working collegially with faculty
