Esplanade at Madeira Ranch is seeking a Fitness and Wellness Director! Qualified candidates will thrive in a hospitality environment and be highly focused on providing superior service.Pay:
$23 - $28 per hour
Summary:
Esplanade at Madeira Ranch, Elk Grove's premier 55+ resort-style community, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Fitness and Wellness Director to lead and elevate our wellness programming. This role is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing a wide range of fitness and recreation activities, including seasonal events, holiday programming, and special experiences that enrich our members' lifestyles. The ideal candidate will bring a dynamic, hands-on approach, spending approximately half their time actively teaching classes and providing personal training, while also leading the coordination, scheduling, and development of a team of instructors.
The candidate should also have strong connections with local instructors who would be suitable to lead experiences. This position plays a key role in creating a welcoming, engaging, and results-driven wellness environment that supports the health and vitality of our community. Pickleball experience is a plus. The club is looking for an individual who is both a strong leader and an inspiring presence-someone who can build meaningful connections with members while delivering high-quality, innovative wellness experiences.
Essential Duties:
• Responsible for the financial management of the department, to include pool and tennis.
• Responsible for the programming of all activities throughout the fitness department, to include pool and tennis.
• Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.
• Manages department members that may include, but is not limited to, Tennis Professional and Assistant Tennis Professional.
• Responsible for managing the overall maintenance and cleanliness of all facets within this department, to include pool and tennis.
• Member of the management committee that operates the overall club.
• Responsible for the management of all outside contractors that participate in spa services.
• Monitors business volume forecasts and plans accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs, and other expenses.
• Responsible for implementing and maintaining excellent service to achieve guest satisfaction.
• Communicates any changes or new policies and procedures to the department.
• Conducts staff meetings with subordinates on a regular basis.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
Education/Experience:
Associate's degree (AA) in Physical Education or a related field; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands:
Frequently uses hands; reaches with hands and arms; talks, hears, stands, and walks; climbs or balances; stoops and kneels. Occasionally sits, crouches, or crawls; tastes or smells. Occasionally lifts up to 45 pounds.
Certificates/Licenses:
National Certificate for Aerobic Instruction. AED, CPR, and First Aid.
Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:
• Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g., associates may be required to communicate with English-speaking customers or co-workers; equipment manuals may be in English).
• Experience and exposure to a wide variety of exercise equipment, instructional techniques, injury prevention, fitness/wellness counseling, and developing/interpreting personalized fitness/wellness regimens.
